A large tumbler beside a screen suits small sips throughout the working day. A compact cup held during a break answers a different need. Before choosing a generous capacity, picture it in use: the space it will occupy, how it will be picked up and where it will go once full.

Within reach does not always mean easy to carry

A straw lets someone drink without lifting the tumbler to their lips; a handle can help them pick it up when full. Both also take up space. On a narrow desk or a small meeting table, the footprint matters as much as the volume. Extra capacity adds little if the recipient prefers to refill often.

For a journey, distinguish a container kept upright in the hand from one packed in a bag. A lid may reduce splashes without providing a leakproof seal, and a straw opening may remain exposed. If carrying a closed drink in a bag is essential, explore branded water bottles or travel mugs too, taking each model’s specifications into account.

The drink and the washing routine matter

The opening and straw need to suit the intended drink, particularly its temperature. Insulation, where present, does not remove the need to confirm suitability. For frequent use, consider how the lid and its parts can be cleaned: this becomes especially relevant when the drink is something other than water.

For an employee gift, a comfortable grip matters more than an impressive size. Discuss which tumblers would suit your recipients, then approve the reference and its personalisation before production.
